There is always work to be done. Your to-do list tends to take on a life of its own at times. If you’re honest, the majority of your to-dos should be for someone else to do. We oftentimes put things on our lists that will make someone else’s life easier, and all the while God wants to show us that he wants to make our lives easier, too. Our lives are evidence that we have picked up the wrong yoke.
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” ~Matthew 11:28-30
Today is a good day to examine your lives by examining each day. Being busy or keeping busy is a worldly mindset. There’s a difference between being busy and being productive. The world has convinced us that we always need to be doing something and shames those who take time to rest by saying things like “I’ll sleep when I die.” Comments like these shame others and shine a spotlight on the worldly behavior of striving. Take some time to S.O.A.P. today’s scripture once you’ve gotten a little rest. Then look at your to-do list. Sort it into two columns — what’s yours and what’s someone else’s. Creating boundaries in your life is essential to living free. Don’t you want to be free? God wants you to surrender all those things that separate you from him. I’d much rather spend time resting at his feet than any place in the world. May blessings abound! ❤
