Jesus Loves Me

Falling in love with Jesus is by far the best thing that I have ever done. I did nothing to earn His love, yet He loved me first. That speaks volumes — knowing that He knows my deepest, darkest secrets and still loves me.  He knows about all those thoughts and desires that lie buried in each chamber of our hearts –closed sepulchers for everyone except the One who loves us without limits. If you think that there’s no greater love than your love for your spouse, family, or children, think again. His love for us far exceeds our capacity to even comprehend its vastness and it endures forever (Psalm 136).

Most would run away if they knew what was hidden in your pulsating storehouses, but He remains the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He doesn’t break up with you the day before Valentine’s Day or hand you divorce papers 20 years into your marriage because your nest is suddenly empty and you discover that you no longer know the person lying next to you nor the face staring back at you from the looking glass. He doesn’t unfriend you on Facebook, unfollow you on Twitter, or block your calls after a little spat; instead, He sticks closer than a brother or sister for that matter (Proverbs 18:24).

Get to know Him today. Download his book on your Kindle or iPad, and read about His promises each day and discover the extent to which he sacrificed to show the world how much He loves us (John 3:16). I don’t know about you, but I think this guy is legit. He sticks with us for better or worse,  for richer or for poorer, and through sickness and health — even when we are unfaithful to Him. In our world, that’s grounds for separation or divorce. God promises to stick around — even when we disobey Him, cheat on Him, or worship things instead of Him.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. ~Romans 8:38-39

For my single friends who desire a husband or wife, try Him first, and then wait and see what He has in store for you. Don’t settle for your ruggedly handsome first choice if he doesn’t know God. Don’t settle for the lovely voice of  the seductive Siren, for her beauty is fleeting, and her love is filled with broken promises. Wait on the Lord.

Commercialism aside, Valentine’s Day is just another day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad about that (Psalm 118:24). If you’re single, use this time to get to know your King. Draw close to him, and then watch Him reciprocate (James 4:8). For my married friends, the chocolates, jewels, and teddies (oops…teddy bears) are nice. My hope is that you get those things all the time out of the middle of nowhere– not just the middle of February.

If you read my post from yesterday, you know that I’m not out sipping bubbly and dressed to the nines. I’m bundled up in my LulaRoe leggings and my comfy robe and sipping on Theraflu yet again. My husband had good intentions, but my intentions are leaning toward taking a nap so that we can cook dinner and watch a movie on the couch later. The bottom line is simple. Enjoy your time here on Earth because life is short — it’s like a mist that lasts for a little while and then vanishes (James 4:14). Sitting around wishing and hoping and praying won’t do you any good if all you’re doing is wishing and hoping and praying. Read about your King, brag about how awesome He is, tattoo his promises on your heart, and fall in love with Him. After all, he’s crazy about you.
